What does the scholarship opportunities cover?2020-07-31T11:47:57+00:00

CERHI has scholarship arrangement for regional Students which covers the following:

  1. Tuition and Sundry Charges and fees payable to the University Management for three academic sessions for Ph.D and two academic sessions for M.Sc students
  2. Monthly stipends of 150 USD payable in equivalent of Nigerian currency for the student’s living expenses.

iii.           Provisional accommodation throughout the period of your programme

  1. Sponsorship to Conferences and workshops
  2. Timely thesis submission and graduation fee (only available to PhD students)

In case of local students, CERHI takes care of approved sponsorship to conferences and workshops

Yes. In CERHI, provision has be made to provide English language support courses for Francophone students based on the need either before the start or during the course of their programmes.

Do I need visa to come to Nigeria?2020-07-31T11:44:07+00:00

Once you obtain an admission into our programmes, if you are not from any of the ECOWAS countries then you are required to secure a valid visa before entering Nigeria; this can be obtained in Nigerian High Commission/Embassy of your respective countries.

Registration will be online. If you are an International student you will also need to register in person when you arrive on campus.

How do I submit my completed application form?2020-07-31T11:38:50+00:00

Once your form is correctly filled, the completed application form is submitted to www.uniben.edu , www.myuniben.org. Thereafter, the following document should be printed out from the website: application and referee forms.

Yes. The candidate is expected to make an online payment of N25,500 ($73.00) using verve or master ATM bank card.

Candidates are to purchase application forms on our website with a valid verve or master Card.

What documents do I need to submit when applying for any of the programmes?2020-07-31T11:32:09+00:00

All applicants are required to make the following documents available during the application process:

  1. Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age
  2. All academic certificates (Primary School leaving Certificates, Senior School Certificate Examination Results, A/L Certificate(where applicable), B.Sc. Degree Certificate and its transcript, M.Sc. Degree Certificate and its transcript (for Ph.D. applicants))

iii.           Any professional certificates relevant to the application (an added advantage)

For a student to graduation, the following conditions must have been met:

–              Passed all taught course;

–              Passed the practicum;

–              Passed an oral defence of the completed dissertation/thesis, in line with the guidelines of the Postgraduate School.

What is the duration of your programmes?2020-07-31T11:26:37+00:00

Our M.Sc programmes has a duration of a minimum of 12 months (2 semesters) for full-time and a maximum of 24 months (4 semesters) while part-time M.Sc has minimum of  24 months (4 semesters) and a maximum of 48 months (8 semester).

For all Ph.D. programmes, it is designed to run on full time and part time bases. The full-time option is designed to last for 24 months with allowance made for a maximum of 48 months while the part-time option is to last for 36 months with allowance made for a maximum of 60 months.

CERHI runs Short courses, MSC and PhD programmes. They are as follows:

Nursing Science offered by Department of Nursing, Reproductive Health, offered by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Health Economics,  offered by the Department of Economics and Statistics, Public Health  in Reproductive and Family Health, offered by the Department of Community Health.

     -Specific Program Requirement

MSc Reproductive Health

First Degree from a University recognized by the University of Benin in Medicine, Health, Natural and

Applied Sciences. with a minimum of Second Class Honours.

PhD Reproductive Health

MSc in Health Sciences or MPH from Universities recognized by the University of Benin.

MPH Public Health in Reproductive and Family Health

A First Degree in a Health related Science not below second class.

PhD in Public Health in Reproductive and Family Health

A Master Degree in Public Health or fields related to reproductive & Family Health

MSc Nursing Science (Reproductive Health)

First Degree in Nursing Sciences with a minimum of Second Class.

PhD Nursing Science (Reproductive Health)

An MSc Degree in Nursing Science with a weighted score of 60%.

MSc Health Economics

a). A Postgraduate Diploma in Economics related courses

b). A First Degree in Economics and relevant disciplines with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division

PhD Health Economics

  1. Hold M.Sc. degree (which includes coursework and research) in Health Economics, Health Management/Administration or Health Policy or in a related area from University of Nigeria or any other recognized University provided the University admission grades requirements of a minimum CPGA of 3.0/4.0 or 3.5/5.0 are
  2. In addition, a relevant working experience in Health Management and Policy matters will be an advantage.

  

     -General Admission Requirements

  1. A Candidate for Postgraduate studies in the University of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents)

Note:  A CREDIT PASS IN MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH IS REQUIRED

  1. A holder of a pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the Postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd Class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into Masters programmes.
  2. A candidate who obtained Master’s degree butwith weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil Programme in the first instance.
  3. A candidate applying for the PhD in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a minimum of 60% in the Master’s Degree.
  4. V.A candidate applying for the PhD with Master’s Degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60%.
  5. Only students who have the NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate can be allowed to clear into the different courses.

 Transcripts

Candidates should request for their transcript from their former institution and forward them academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication. Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

Referee Reports

Candidates should print out the referee forms provided in the application page, fill and return directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Application shall not be processed unless the referee reports are available.

Note: Students are advised to always check the website for those courses that require written entrance examinations. Please make sure you indicate your e mail address/telephone numbers when applying.

CERHI offers scholarships to highly qualified international students as well as support students on internship programmes in National, Regional and International Institutions. Internship is an integral part of the programme offered to students in relevant public and private sector establishments to enable the students enhance their technical as well as develop their entrepreneurial skills. Students are welcome to submit applications for these scholarship to the Centre’s Management Office.

CERHI has an ultramodern Secretariat located in the heart of the University of
Benin with the following facilities:
 Lecture Theatres, with modern learning materials
 Teleconferencing facilities
 Laboratory for high grade research
 Reproductive health library
 E-library facilities with EBSCO host journal, science direct, E-journals, Ebooks and Journals
 Free WI-FI, both in classrooms and in students‟ hostels
 Uninterrupted power supply etc.
The Centre also has a comfortable and well-furnished accommodation for
international students which features uninterrupted power supply alongside
free Wi-Fi and comfortable conveniences for students.
An ultramodern guest house, well-furnished and equipped with comfortable
furnishings for visiting faculty and exchange students with a 24/7 power
supply and free Wi-Fi is also hosted by CERHI.

All CERHI programmes have obtained institutional accreditation from the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA) based in Belgium.
In addition, two of our short courses were given international accreditation as a Continuing Training & Education Event (CTEE). CERHI also received international accreditation from the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES), France for Masters programmes in Nursing, Reproductive Health and Health Economics. All CERHI programmes have had national accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria. Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills that will enable them compete with their peers trained in other parts of the World.
